Things I never knew about my Dad!

I started scrapbooking a few years ago and had fun buying supplies, creating pages and collecting tons of ideas when I came across a military page and thought it would be great to make a page for my Dad about his Navy days during WWII.

Little did I know what this one page would turn into an entire album and how much it would mean to Dad and me. I went to visit Dad with the one photo I had of him in uniform and a small list of questions; he got so excited that he started telling me lots of stories and pulled out a wealth of memorabilia!

He gave me his ribbons, honorable discharge papers, photos and stories to go with them. The most incredible piece of memorabilia was his Ship's Log-it had so much information in it-from how big the ship was to which Church each person on the ship belonged to. My Dad has always been a quiet man (what man with 5 daughters and no sons wouldn't be?)so I was quite entertained by all the stories he told me about his Navy days. I was amazed and amused that he had taken Arthur Murray dance lessons while in the service! I am so glad that I have been given the opportunity through scrapbooking to get to know my Dad!
